Kamarul Nizam Kassim

Managing Partner


Kamarul has more than 18 years’ experience in venture capital, private equity, financial consulting, public equities research and external audit with government-linked investment companies and private sector entities such as CahyaMata Sarawak Berhad and Axiata Berhad. He has hands-on experience in setting up and structuring two venture capital funds and one private equity fund, interfacing with regulators and fundraising from institutional investors, as well as experience in sourcing leads, closing deals and providing post-investment after care to portfolio companies as an active Board Member.

Prior to Naza, he led the setting up of the venture capital firm and venture capital fund Axiata Digital Innovation Fund with RM80 million actual fund size. He led investment processes spanning deal sourcing, due diligence, financial modelling, deal structuring and terms negotiation for new investments, as well as reviewed 500+ investment opportunities in various sectors. He sourced and closed seven deals, five of which generated between 15% to 300% IRR respectively. 

He has been part of CMS Opus Private Equity (Assistant Vice President), Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) (Head of Business Growth Fund), and Malaysia Venture Capital Management Bhd (MAVCAP) (Vice President) where he was then seconded to IntresCapital Partners Sdn Bhd(Partner) and employed at Axiata Group Bhd (Principal Officer, Investment Committee member of the Axiata Digital Innovation Fund).

He started his career as an Auditor with KMPG in Ireland in 2001. He subsequently joined Maybank Investment Bank's Research division as an Equity Analyst and later on as a Finance Consultant at Royal Dutch Shell. 

He has been a board member in Aerodyne Group, SupahandsDotcom, Softinn, Tripfez, Silent Mode Sdn Bhd(Slurp! POS), and Happy Bunch.

He is a Chartered Accountant with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), U.K. He graduated from Liverpool John MooresUniversity, U.K. with a BA in Accounting and Finance (First Class Honours). He attended The Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK).

Azrul Reza Aziz

Executive Director


Azrul started his profession as an Engineer with a sole distributor of Jaguar brand in Malaysia, before he decided to pursue his MBA in Finance. 

He was then recruited to join a premier & oldest local Islamic Bank, namely Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd under a special leadership program, where he was attached to the Corporate Banking department and was part of Business Focus Group for the re-branding of the Bank. He was responsible in the area of credit origination, perform credit analysis and offer opinions through credit proposal/presentation for management/ board of directors’ decision. This includes Corporate Bilateral Financing and Syndication Financing; both international & local deals.

Subsequently, he joined Kuwait Finance House (Malaysia) Bhd, a foreign Islamic bank established in Malaysia. His main task was to assist the Head of Division to undertake the entire value chain of investment origination process for both proprietary and 3rd party foreign currency funds. Due to his in-depth knowledge of a fund and its investment, he was then seconded to an investee company to oversee the finance & account department as well as supporting the CEO in business development and corporate planning. The investee company's nature of business is Real Estate investment & Property Development, where the project is strategically located within MediniIskandar Malaysia (a catalyst project by the Malaysian Government), minutes away from Singapore.

He was with Naza Corporation Holdings Sdn Bhd (NCH) as the Head of Strategy & Business Development and subsequently appointed as the Chief Operating Officer of Marna Capital, a private investment firm owned by the Executive Chairman and Shareholder of NCH. 

He is currently the Special Adviser to Chairman at Marna Capital & re-joined Naza Group as Chief Strategy Officer. 

In totality, he has been entrusted to manage and/or involved in strategy development of RM20 billion of assets and been exposed to part of ASEAN, GCCs & Far East/Asia markets.

Wendy Wee

Investment Manager


Wendy has more than 10 years of experience in the Financial industry, out of which 5 years were in Private Equity. 

She was formerly an Investment Manager in Maybank Private Equity, the private equity arm of Malayan Banking Berhad, which is Malaysia’s largest bank and the fourth-largest in Southeast Asia by total assets. During her tenure there, she researched and sourced investments in the healthcare, agriculture, aerospace, financial technology, and logistics sectors within the ASEAN region. She also drafted investment term sheets, managed third party due diligence and assisted in legal documentation ensuring all risk areas are adequately addressed. In addition to investment activities, her experience include post-investment activities. She worked closely with one of the PE firm’s legacy distressed portfolio companies where she assisted in restructuring the company’s bank loan, monitored its operations and managed its cash flow, as well as assisted in the sale process of the company. 

Her most valued strengths include her ability to perform in-depth analyses on the attractiveness and sustainability of key sector drivers, build complex financial models and run scenario analyses to ascertain acceptable risk-return appetite, as well as her passion for the tech industry.

Prior to Naza Capital, she worked for AE Jarrah Capital, a boutique financial advisory firm, where she was involved in almost 20 technology related fundraising deals, which ranged from game development, mobile app platforms, cleantech, fintech, security, and business solution software.

Wendy holds a B.Sc. (Honors) in Computer Science from Nilai University, and also a Microsoft Professional Program Data Science Certificate, giving her the technical skills of Java and Python programming, SQL, data analytics and Machine Learning modeling.
